Rye, East Sussex.
June 2011.
Rye has always been one of my favourite places in South East England. I didn't need to be at the airport before six o'clock, so I decided to visit Dungeness, Rye, and the designer outlet in Ashford.
The blog post title was taken from the song by Ray Davies, who played at Hard Rock Calling this past Saturday. The weather was surprisingly good (it had rained the night before), the sunset was gorgeous, and both Davies and Bon Jovi had awesome setlists. I had a great time and I don't regret having slept only four hours in two days.
More pictures coming soon...
Goodnight, and have a great week!

So English!
It is very English. There are other places where one might speculate whether they're only preserved to attract American and Japanese tourists, but Rye doesn't seem that way. It's just perfect.
Great pictures! I love Dungeoness, its such a bizarre and interesting place. Did you visit the lighthouse? Only downside- the difficulty in getting there via public transport. Last time I went was on a Sunday and I had to wait nearly 2 hours for a bus!!
Thanks very much! It did feel bizarre, especially because the shingle beach is huge, and it was so foggy that I couldn't see the sea until I stood a few feet away from the water. I didn't visit the lighthouse though... that's something I'll do next time.
