Rise

Title taken from the song by Eddie Vedder.

Such is the way of the world
You can never know
Just where to put all your faith
And how will it grow

Gonna rise up
Burning black holes in dark memories
Gonna rise up
Turning mistakes into gold

I had planned to get my presentation about the Viking settlement done, but I decided to procrastinate until tomorrow, for the weather was too gorgeous to stay inside the house. Instead I took a few photographs. Here are two of them.

Lüneburg, Germany. April 2010.

Last Friday, while on the way from university to another institute where we had a dendrochronology workshop (for those who don't know much about archaeology: tree-ring dating), me and a buddy from uni read this article about the Sar-El volunteer programme and we're really thinking about taking part, either this summer or the next. Sar-El aims to support Zahal, the Israel Defense Forces, and you can participate even if you're not an Israeli. On the weekends there'll be organized trips to Jerusalem and / or Tel Aviv. Just like my fellow student Alex, I've wanted to visit Israel for a long time and this seems to be the perfect opportunity to do so and support the only democracy in the Middle East in its fight against its terrorist neighbouring countries. The country has got a rich history, there's loads and loads of Bauhaus architecture in Tel Aviv, and the girls are beautiful. Awesome.

I hope you enjoy a nice weekend.

Hi, that first photo is very interesting, love the building in the water.

You will love Israel, it is amazing and how I wish I had been into photography for the twice I have been there.

Hope your weekend is a good one as well.

Thanks a lot Eaton!
Yes, I do believe I will, however I'm not sure if I can fit it into my schedule this summer.
Any places you'd recommend visiting, apart from the obvious destinations such as Jerusalem and Tel Aviv?

Cheers,

Dom

Hey Dom, The Golan Heights, Masada,
Sea of Galilee, Dead Sea and En Gedi are all fascinating places to visit. Oh, Capernaum and Haifa are amazing too. That's quite a list, but so worth it. A visit to Israel is something to look forward to for the future.

Thank you so much Eaton! If my buddy and I can make it this summer, we'll certainly try to visit at least some of those places...
