Johnny Rooke

It's snowing... it's alright though, because it's Saturday and I don't have to go anywhere - I'll be spending the rest of the evening as well as most of tomorrow working on a presentation which is due next week. It's a lot of stress, but then again, working hard makes hungry and I love good food.

Title taken from this great song by Elliott Brood, which is featured in an epic 8-minute short film I discovered earlier today.

Lüneburg, Germany.
November 2010.

The previous winter lasted from December 2009 until February 2010... this one will be even longer and much colder, the forecasters say. If in turn the next summer's going to be hotter than the last, I shall head east to the Black Sea... I stumbled across some very convincing pictures... there's not only lots of partying going on but some beautiful beaches and mountains too - the foothills of the Caucasus are nearby.

This is the last weekend I'm living at my mum's house in Lüneburg - I'm moving back to Hamburg next Saturday. I had previously lived alone in Hamburg from June 2008 until April 2009 after my move from England to Germany, but after my mum bought a house in Germany I asked if I could move in there because my flat had been rather expensive. Lüneburg is an hour away from Hamburg though, which means I spend two hours a day commuting, on account of the university being in Hamburg.

Have a nice weekend!

Oh wow. Winter wonderland, I salute you.
I really wish it would snow here. it's so beautiful.
Say what? You have great taste in music! Pitty for those who doesn't like good music. Poor souls.

Yeah.. Blue headlights has been like a drug to me for quite a while now. Did you like the song?
:)

Thank you :-) You have great taste in music too :-) There's no doubt about that.

Unfortunately, I didn't find a good version of the song on Youtube - just some crappy videos made with digital cameras... the quality of sound was really bad.

Well, the most important thing is that we know that the good version exists :)

I used to.. but my computer crashed and it all went away. Thousand of songs, thousand of photos..
I hate when that happens.

Hi Dom, I like your photos and your music much, it opens some new worlds to me.

And yes, this is my sister's experience, too, that renting apartment in Germany (Munich) is more expensive than in Italy and Netherlands. It depends on particular city, probably, too. But it is always better to stay on your own, although your mum may thinks something just the opposite :-)

Here in Poland we have a lot of snow, as well, and it makes me happy!

Have a good Sunday :-)

Moa: Sorry to hear that... I save my files to an external hard drive so I won't lose anything important.

Magdalena: Thank you very much!
I think Munich is even more expensive than Hamburg though; at least that's what I've been told. Oh yes, you're right about that - mothers can be quite annoying sometimes! :-)
Glad to hear that! Hope you enjoy your Sunday, too :-)

that really is a LONG drive to go back and forth. i'm excited for you to be closer but living with people you know will hopefully make it more enjoyable :D that first picture btw is absolutely breath-taking. all of them. the hint of pinkish-purplish stole my heart away.

Thanks for the kind words, Brooke! :-) Yeah, I hope so, too :-) We can cook dinner or make apple pie together :-) I played around with the colour balance:
red: 0; green: -15; blue: +20

Vielen herzlichen Dank! Bei der Bezeichnung "Kommune" würden sich meine beiden Mädels zwar aufregen, ich würde mich jedoch nicht beklagen... :-)
