Who Says You Can't Go Home

I spent twenty years trying
to get out of this place

I was looking for something
I couldn't replace

I was running away from the only thing
I've ever known

Please take a look at my pictures taken in Dungeness and Rye, too.

Have a great week.

Great shots together with very befitting lyrics! Must have felt strange to be back. It's amazing, I used to spend nearly every day in Richmond back in 2007-08. I was back at the riverside recently after nearly 2 years, it was like nothing had changed!

Looks and sounds like a good trip. You got some good pics out of it that's for sure. I remember you suggesting Rye to me when I thought I was going to England. I definitely suggest Cinque Terre - although stay the night (or more) so you have the place without those tourists :)

Sy: Thank you! It did feel a bit strange. I noticed some shops and restaurants were gone; apart from that Richmond looked and felt the way it did when I left.
The lyrics do fit perfectly because I was almost 20 years old when I moved away. I'm planning to stay in Germany for two or three more years, but unless I've got the perfect job or I'm in a serious relationship by then, I'll move back to England in 2013 or 2014.

T.: It was a great trip! I'm glad you enjoyed the photographs.
Thank you for the advice regarding Cinque Terre. Tourists are so annoying. I'd never call myself a "tourist". I'm a visitor. In my opinion there's a huge difference. Visitors are open-minded to foreign cultures and conventions and they want to find out what a place is all about, whereas tourists just take a few snapshots and then they're gone. Your wonderful blog posts about your trip to Europe prove that you're a visitor, too.
