Solsbury Hill

Richmond Hill, Richmond upon Thames, UK.
June 2011.

Climbing up on Solsbury Hill
I could see the city light
Wind was blowing, time stood still
Eagle flew out of the night

He was something to observe
Came in close, I heard a voice
Standing stretching every nerve
Had to listen, had no choice

I did not believe the information
I just had to trust imagination

My heart going boom, boom, boom

"Son", he said, "Grab your things,
I've come to take you home"

(Peter Gabriel - Solsbury Hill)

This is my 300th blog post since I started "Running To The Light" in the late summer of 2009. I'm not planning to get cheesy now, so let me just say this much: Thank you so much for following my blog and for all the wonderful comments! I really appreciate it.

Well done! :)
The great thing about blogging is about all the people you "touch", sort of "virtual friends".

Great shot! You seem fascinated by central lanes that leads the eye towards the subject! I like this sort of composition as well as it gives a great perspective to the photo and is always very effective!

Looking fwd to Post #301! DeeBee :)

Thank you very much DeeBee!

Yes, I like this sort of composition. Some people have criticised me for choosing this composition, but as far as I'm concerned, it's the natural way of looking at things - straight lines lead the viewer's eyes towards a subject, and they help us guess the approximate distance between ourselves and the subject.

Happy 300 posts! What a lovely photo. You know, for years I thought Peter Gabriel was singing about Salisbury, the capital of Rhodesia, (now Harare, Zimbabwe). I don't know why I made that inference, maybe because Gabriel sang about Biko?

Thanks!
I love Richmond, but the Richmond I visited in June 2011 was a bit different from the Richmond I left in June 2008... my favourite restaurant no longer exists... it's such a crying shame.
