I like these photos - the barn and Alster Lake particularly - are those rocks in the lake? I am viewing today on the phone so will have to take your word on quality! :). Will look later on a big screen .

Those aren't rocks but ice floes. The Alster Lake freezes in winter. Here's a picture I took in January 2010:

Wow, ice in the sea water. It seems like a Hamburg winter can get pretty chilly.

Yeah, it does get pretty cold... the coldest temperature I can remember from the three winters I've been living here would have to be - 16° C.
